Lancaster, CA – Students and faculty members at Tierra Bonita Elementary are celebrating a big milestone by becoming accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). These last months WASC officials have spent their time evaluating the school during the accreditation process.
“We are thrilled to be accredited for our hard work and dedication. Our faculty and staff set a goal to become the next WASC accredited school in the valley and I am glad to see this day come to reality,” said Tierra Bonita Principal Christa Waldvogel.
According to WASC, an accreditation is a voluntary dual-purpose process that schools must be worthy of the trust placed in them to provide high-quality learning and clearly demonstrate continual self-improvement.
School’s that receive this high accreditation are identified as being able to focus on student achievement that is aligned with academic standards, while continuing professional growth. Tierra Bonita has established these traits on a daily basis. The school has been fully accredited for the grades of Transitional Kindergarten through 6th grade.
“Tierra Bonita is a prime example of the strong work ethic you will find at all of our school sites,” said Eastside Union School District Superintendent Dr. Mark Marshall. “It’s very important to have the ability to self-evaluate our efforts and determine what we can do next to continue lowering the achievement gap.”
